Fiji Travel Vision

Car Hire in Fiji

Driving in Fiji is on the left. Tourists must hold a valid driving license to rent a car. Minimum age is generally 21 and excesses apply. Cars can be rented at Nadi Airport, in Nadi Town, at some large resorts and at Suva on the main island of Viti Levu. It is also possible to rent a car in Vanua Levu in the Northern Islands.

The road around most of Viti Levu is tar-sealed but watch for stray animals, pot holes (especially after long periods of rain) and a few crazy drivers. The speed limit is 80km and roads are all single carriage. It takes about 4 hours from Nadi to Suva along the Queens Highway (south coast) and at least 7 hours on the Kings Highway (north coast) which is not completely tar-sealed. Roads leading inland are not tar-sealed but most are quite passable except after heavy rain. The rural scenery inland is quite unique.
